Im stuck in a bit of a pickle at the moment , I have decided to get a bigger car than my 65 polo r line 1.0tsi and I like the look of the passat . I have received a quote for a 15 plate 1.6 tdi se estate model for around £150 per month over 4 yr pcp which is great for me saves me £65 a month on my car at the moment and due to starting my own business helps keeps costs a little lower .

The problem is that iv heard the 2.0tdi is much better but the 2.0 tdi are a bit scarse at the moment up my way and cost lots more .

Would it be worth while going for the 2L or would a remap help the 1.6 feel a bit more reponsive and less lethargic ?

    Any help appreciated

Is this even a real question?

On a serious note I think the 1.6 is a fairly capable engine. But will you always regret not getting the 2.0? I know what my answer would be

I'd keep costs a massive amount lower by buying a used one!

If you're definitely going for new then, in the current climate, you should be able to get a seriously good deal on a diesel.

What are you using her for?

Unless it's some massive load lugging on a regular basis then I'm sure the 1.6 will be perfectly adequate. Whatever you get it will be stuck in the same traffic jams as everyone else!!

    Good luck with the search.

    Andy.

Im sorry that there are some people not 100% clued up about diesel engines and what ones are better than others and that also have to ask silly questions about it .

My REAL question aside Andy , it wouldnt be getting used for much apart from the usual city commute and now and again delivery of some items ( nothing too heavy ) and the odd weekend trip with the family .

The 2.0 that are currently available are at least £55 a month dearer than the 1.6 I had been quoted for , this was the main reason for my question .
