I am to collect my new Q7 from the dealers later this month. When I bought my current BMW I bought a 5 year service package. I realise I could ask the dealer the following question but I would rather have the information from those who have no financial incentive
Do Audi have similar schemes and if not what is the best method of service intervals? It’s just that I have read an earlier thread about an oil change and an inspection light being out of sync.
    Kind regards

To answer my own query the answer is yes but in my circumstances not appropriate

Just a thought from a rather long in the tooth cynic.

Who do you think gets the best "deal" out of a service plan? You? Or the dealer?

Maybe I'm missing the point completely, in which case apologies, but when I see what constitutes a "service" a really do wonder on what is actually done and how that equates to the amounts charged.

    Andy.

    Andy.
Knowing when a service is due and exactly what is required at that interval is no longer a simple process. It appears gone are the days of 'x no of miles or time elapsed' now its 'computer says x' and we have no control of that. I realise that franchise holders of the major marques have to comply with stringent conditions with regards to their showrooms etc but labour charges are now outrageous. I have no idea what the hourly rate at Audi is as this will be the first time I will have ever owned one but I suspect it is well over £100 per hour. As mine is not a company car there is no way I will be using a main dealer but will investigate some of those Audi specialists advertising on this site.
As servicing and parts are a major cash cow in the auto industry I have never worked on the principle that I am getting a good deal, I just try to minimise those costs where I can.

    Thank you.

I agree that main dealers charges are outrageous. A few years ago a main dealer also "made a mistake" and "accidentally" charged me for 5 x 1 litres of oil at the 5 litre price. Not far off £150 for just the oil...... I did get it put right after quite a "discussion" with the service manager. Not surprisingly I haven't been back!

Newer cars are now so complicated that a vast amount of kit and knowledge is required and I think your choice of a quality independent is very wise.

    Good luck and enjoy her.

    Andy.
