    Hi all,
Other half has got a 2013 a3 with the 1.6 tdi engine. its coming up to 50k miles. Sometimes it takes quite a few turnovers to start which im guessing is the battery but when it does start, it idles lumpy. The car is shaking. Any ideas what it could be? VCDS showing nothing. Are these engines generally noisey? Compared to my A5 2.0tdi it is very noisey.
    Thanks

No it should sound the same as 2.0 tdi.
    Could be injector fault.
Its just so annoying that it happens at this low mileage.
    Current cars:
    2007 Passat b6 2.0 tdi BMR DSG
    2013 Golf MK7 1.6 tdi 5 speed

Are you up with VCDS? Is there anything I can check to eliminate injectors?

Hello mate. I found at my work that its quiet common for the injectors to fail on them....
Have you got vcds? I know you said that there is no fault codes... but have you looked at live readings of injection? to compare the injection time and quantity.
in case you going to think about getting new injector I got a handy video on how to code them, as they need coding to run properly!
Have a look and sub if helpful!

    Hi,
Do you work on these a lot? Yes I’ve got VCDS, it won’t let me in to the measuring blocks so I have to use the advanced settings. Do I look at the readings when the car is warm and ticking over?
i have bought a new battery but haven’t fitted it yet as it’s a lot of money if that’s not the reason why it’s lumpy on start up. Can I check glow plugs via VCDS too?
    Thanks
