Can’t say for sure but in that kind of distance I’d expect my golf to have used non up or at least an unmeasurable amount using the dipstick.

I’ve done over 25,000 miles in the last year and not had to top up any oil in my ‘15 plate 2.0 diesel other than the oil changes at the last 2 services.

How much have you had to top up? And are you certain enough was in there in the first place?

I don’t know what the figures are for the latest engines in the Golfs but when I was having problems with my last car (a 2007 PD diesel Touran) I found out that VW had an allowance of half a litre of oil per 1000km (620 miles) on those engines and I had used 1 litre of oil in 2000 miles so below the level for any official concerns from VW.

VAG say that anything upto 0.5 litres per 620 miles is acceptable. If you think it is exceeding that they have a special test program that is initiated in ODIS where the oil is actually weighed to determine consumption.

I know it is obvious But.

If i use the incorrect oil i might as well throw the warranty into the shredder.

0W-20 is the oil specified by vw.

Thankyou Crasher i will bear that in mind :-)
