    Hi everyone

I’ve just got myself a 2002 Passat TDI estate. 100,000 miles and only 2 previous owners. As with all cars, there’s a couple of things I need some advice on.... have searched the forums but always good to get some reassurance!

I drove it 80 miles home yesterday and although it was only 0c most of the journey back, the temp gauge never reached 90c. I’ve got a 2016 Golf and know it’s a stickler for running at 90c. It’s had a new Temp sensor fitted within the last 2 years, so I’m guessing it’s the thermostat?

Also, the drivers door doesn’t light up the interior lights, puddle light and the car locks itself... guessing this is the micro switch in the door?

Other than these I’m really pleased with it, upgraded from a shed of a V70 to this and its great.

    Thanks in advance

Thermostat and drivers door actuator , you could try an electrical contact spray on the micro switch first .

Don't forget to disable the egr .

    Thanks for that.

I am going to sound really dumb now but... Disabling the egr...? Why?

Egr causes incomplete combustion , more soot , abrasive soot in oil , chokes egr , inlet manifold and the diverted exhaust gasses rob the turbo of an earlier spool .

Simply remove the vac line and plug the line .
