    Hi,

Fitted a dashcam to my wife's 2012 A3. Now on my (now sold) A3 this would have been simple. I would have run a feed from the cigarette lighter fuse which was live all the time the car was powered. Didn't have any stop/start fuss to worry about so all would have been good. However she has stop/start.

No problem, use the cig lighter. However her cigarette lighter seems to be permanently live even overnight. What's more whenever I take a feed from another fuse that should be powered when the car is, the power never seems to drop. I'm aware the cars from into a sleep mode after a few minutes but if you leave the car half hour, the camera stays powered.

Other option is the rear wiper fuse but that causes the camera to reboot with the stop/start.

Something that should be oh so simple isn't! Is the care really staying permanently powered? None of my other Golf platform cars have ever done this.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

It is the CAN controller interfering. When fitting accessories you should use a CAN BUS adapter which will provide you with the signals you need such as ignition on and reverse selection.

Ha! Thought it was just me being incompetent! I have to remember to manually switch it off (it usually powers back on when the ignition goes on).
