    Hello,
I have a 2001 A6 2.5 TDi FWD and am in the middle of replacing the steering rack. I have removed the old unit , which is a Koyo unit p/n 4B2422066E.
This seems to be a rare part number and is not easily available, most websites quote 4B2422052.
Can anyone tell me if I can substitute 4B2422052 for 4B2422066E ?

    Thanks

4B2 422 052 is a right hand drive ZF rack for 4 cylinder models, 4B2 422 052 E went to F and is as you say a Koyo used on all right hand drive front wheel drive six cylinder models were except those with the AJK, APB and AZA engines or cars with Servotronic.

    Thanks Crasher.
Do you have any recommendations for brand/supplier for the rack?

Mmm - uneconomical to repair at that price (car is 2001 200k miles). I'll have to look elsewhere. Needs a pump too...

I saw the exact same model and year on the back of a scrap wagon this morning, it looked fine but all it needs is the injection pump to go and it is the end of the AllRoad...

So I fitted a 4B2 422 052 (£160 exchange) and replaced the pump, cleaned out the lines and reservoir. All seems good- approx £300 all in, hopefully should get a few more years out of the car
