    Hi,
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

I’ve been faced with a problem of my rear wiper water spray not working. The nozel can be seen and looks slightly rusted. Given the age of the car, this is probably an okay thing. The two front water sprays work absolutely fine, so no problem with the water pump by the looks of it.

When prompted to clear the rear windscreen, the motor sounds as if it is working, but there is no water to be seen on the windscreen! There is no water on the nozel opening either.

Could it possibly be a loose connection with one of the waterlines? If so, how would I do this, and where would the pipes be found.
Or should I replace the nozel?

I’m so sorry if this has been asked before, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much, and enjoy your day!

First pin the nozzle to clear. If that fails try compressed air. If still not working remove nozzle with pliers and check for water delivery. If still no water, strip boot trim and check pipework okay. If not, you’ll need to work back to pump to investigate further.

If it is a Polo 9N, these have a habit of blowing off the fast assembly fitting under the ABS pump, the recommended repair is to replace it with a length of 3.2mm rubber hose. Also the convoluted plastic pipe between the tailgate and the roof can split if the tailgate is opened with the water inside the pipe frozen and is a bit of a pain to repair. If it is a leak, running the pump should leave a puddle on the floor but if the failure is inside the tailgate that is not good for the electrics and can stain the roof lining.
