Hi, I just brought my 2012 62 plate Audi A5 sportback a few months ago and decided to have a full service at a Audi dealership nearby. Just a few days before I took my A5 to the dealership, my friend told me they found a outstanding recall on my A5 At the gov.uk. It didn’t say what is the recall about but I mentioned to the staff anyway when I make the appointment and the told me is nothing to worry about it just some wire problem and the will have a look when they do the service, so I didn’t think it a problem and I didn’t look further into it. Then when I the service done they didn’t told me anything about the recall problem but instead they told me there is a code flagged up and there are (Static fault code logged in vehicle for V50 coolant pump (auxiliary coolant pump) advise further checks on this unit) and they want £284 to just check this problem. I was worried about the problem so I was decided to pay the money for them to investigate it but they told me wait and I waited a hour before they come back to me so during the hour I try to investigated further into the problem and the recall online. On the dvsa (driver & vehicle safety agency)website (dft.gov.uk) said there are 2 recall on my A5 last year alone 1 of the problem is Concern :RISK OF OVERHEATING AND FAILURE OF ADDITIONAL COOLANT PUMP and AUXILLIARY HEATER ELEMENT IN AIR CONDITIONING MAY FAIL AND/OR OVERHEAT. I didn’t have time to mention anything to them because the hour I was waiting it make me running late for everything and the dealership about to close ( I left my car to them at 7:00am and I came back just before or exactly 5:00 pm on the same days do they close at 6:00pm.)
So my question is what should I do? Is it the problem part of the recall? Should Audi fix it for me or do I think I should to pay £284 just for them to investigate the problem?

284 for just investigating is silly.
Go to indy and they will change those parts for bit more.
