Widespread battery problem 2017/2018 A6's plus others?

Just had my battery replaced on my one year old A6 3.0 Allroad. It gradually became more laboured when starting and eventually failed to start. Fair due to Audi Assistance - quick response and solution - but I thought worth whiel sharing as there were strong indicatios that this is a widespread problem which had been subject to a "Technical Bulletin" but not of a carpet repair camapign/recall. Over the last few months many hundreds of batteries have been replaced due to their failing. Don't know which batteries and from when, but my car is 13 months old and failed. The fact that the Technician knew what the problem was likely to be on hearing the symptoms was very telling. And it's not just A6's - quite a few VW Group cars are affected. Don't have any more info, but thought I would share just in case others have problems.

My 67 plate A6 is in next week as I am getting the low charge warning on start up.
Have heard of quite a few others getting theirs done and it taking time to sort so I insisted on a courtesy car.

I hope they don’t wipe my VCDS adaptations
