I have looked in the forum and am aware there has been questions on this before, but nothing has solved my problem, so I'm going to ask again:

2007 Audi A4 Avant B7. A ridiculous amount of water entering the cab and settling in the drivers footwell. Previous threads on this have indicated three possible entry points. Two drain holes on the front scuttle under the bonnet between the battery and the brake servo, and another in the footwell where there is a drain plug. I have removed the drain plug, which was undamaged and seated correctly, and have sealed it with a flexible sealant. I have also cleared and flushed through the two drain hole gromets in the scuttle. There was standing water in the scuttle but that was drained, and the footwell subsequently dried out. I had hoped that was an end to it, but the next drive in wet weather very quickly saw an accumulation of water in the footwell again.

The only indication was that the carpet to the left of the footwell, in the front corner where the footrest meets the gearbox tunnel, was wet upwards of the floor. I've used a lamp and mirror to look above the area behind the dash, but I can see nothing to indicate where the source of the water is.

Seeking suggestions please, this is becoming a tad annoying !

    Thanks.

The ECU box in the engine bay is known to leak into drivers footwell.
Take the panel below the steering off, get someone to use a hose on the while checking for leaks up under the dash.

There is also a plug under the battery make sure that is not causing your pooling.

Controversial but maybe check the seal around the bottom of the ECU enclosure under the bonnet before spraying more water, potentially on the brains of the car if you have an ECU enclosure leak

Take off whole plastic tray that covers battery, ECU and pollen filter and check around the base of the ECU (in front of driver) or dry area and unscrew the lid off the ECU if you have tools and see if you can see an moisture gettiing into the ECU enclosure and then into car through a massive gap where the wires go through.

Well I am at my wits end with this now. Over the weekend I had the front seat out, removed the dash panel, got lighting in the footwell and got my wife to run the hosepipe over the windscreen. More water than a monsoon. But not a drop came down inside the footwell on the inside of the bulkhead. I had previously made sure the grommets under the bonnet were clear and could hear water running down on the other (engine bay) side of the bulkhead forward of the pedals and onto the ground outside. With the seat out, I could see water in the chassis rail under the seat near to where the seat electrics come up through the floor, and I now think that somehow water is collecting there, and when the car goes down a hill or the brakes are applied, the water is moving forward and pooling at the front. This certainly appeared to be the case when I drove it afterwards.

So how on earth is water getting in to there, how do I go about removing it, and how do I stop it getting in ??? I've looked around all the door seals and there is no indication of water anywhere.

I take it you dont have a coolant leak, as if the heater matrix/hoses are leaking? Although you had the dash panel out, it could still be a windscreen bonding issue as water could be channeled away from where your looking for it. I once stripped out a VW Caddy to find a leak......from a windscreen. Tough to trace.
