    Hi all,

    Long time no post.

Just had my MOT - great timing for a FAIL just before Xmas.

Here are the fails - 3 out of the 4 jobs aren't really a problem but the engine management light is the thing that bothers me most...

I had the EGR valve cleaned and refitted a while back but the light only stays off for a short amount of time. Is there any way to permanently (or temporarily for a day) disable the light?

    Fail/Defects from MOT:-

Engine MIL inoperative or indicates a malfunction

exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases

suspension component mounting prescribed area excessively corroded significantly reducing structural strength NSR

Anti roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt OSF

It's a BKC. EGR insufficient flow. Had it cleared but came back on after about an hour. It's already been taken off and cleaned.

Well now I've had the welding done and bought a replacement drop link I'd say it is my only worry. Thanks for your valuable input.

Painful amount of work but it’ll be worth it, just done the wings and mostly had the car resprayed/alloys refurbished to sort out everything that had corroded on my Gti, hope you get it sorted soon

Cleaning the system is often not enough, it has to be removed from the head (including the manifold) and stripped clean with new parts.
