    Hi all

The diesel powered auxiliary heater on our TDI (code 9M5) has not been working for a number of years. I eventually discovered this was because the main 12V pin had corroded and snapped in the supply housing. If I repair that it will presumably come back to life, but is there any danger of fire or obnoxious smoke (around car or in cabin) from doing this? Will it be full of degraded diesel that could reenter fuel supply system and cause problems?

    Thanks for any insights.

It will be a miracle if the thing lights up, you might also find it has been locked out due to ignition failure or low fuel level in the tank over the years it has been out of action, and needs resetting via VCDS. old diesel will not return to the tank as it has no fuel re circulation system. A world of pain with these things - I'd leave it alone if I were you !!!

, you could well be right. But the chilly mornings and drive's home are closing in and it's a pain sitting waiting for it to warm up so windscreen doesn't keep misting. If there is no significant danger I think I'll give it a go. I have a VCDS if that is needed. And it it's too much of a pain I'll know which wire to snip - the yellow repair one.
