Ah, that's a pity. Did you get given the BMW ones? Such a common assumption by the ZF parts suppliers. Are the ones you were given profiled as opposed to just being pieces of tube?

I believe the part numbers you want are:
    0734 317 389 - Sealing Sleeve (3x)
    0734 317 370 - Sealing Sleeve (1x)

    Hi zit,

I have found the sleeves in the netherlands so Ive ordered them, would you advise replacing the valve body separator plate as the transmission is in bits already, Also should I send the mechatronic away to be tested/repaired,

I still dont think what I'm doing will fix it I think its more serious like the pump or a seal which requires transmission being removed,

Is the oil at the end of the transmission the same or is it like a transfer type oil,

I don't think doing the separator plate is worth it. I would do everything you already planned to do (sleeves, solenoids, bridge seal, new fluid) and see if that helps.

I tend to also think you have something more sinister going on, but lets hope it was a passing sleeve or a leaky solenoid. I wouldn't go mechatronic rebuild yet.

The oil in the torsen/centre/transfer diff is a fairly exotic concoction. Well, it's actually just diff oil which has a very exotic additive in it. Having said that I just put in Ravenol limited slip diff oil and that cured my torsen rumble and I haven't had any issues.
The ZF workbook I recommended discusses the various oils.

    Hey N19.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm in the middle of moving from Joburg back to Cape Town and packing is a mare.
I'll consilidate a list of oils and ATF's for the box for you this coming weekend.

In terms of the adaption reset, don't let anyone tell you some garbage about holding down the accelerator, turning the ignition on and off, etc. If anything, that just resets the position of the DBW throttle.

To actually reset the clutch adaption charge times and pressures, you need to go into VCDS, into the transmission, then to adaptions. Then scroll to adaption 01, and save a 0 there. Then to confirm that they're reset, go to measure blocks values 73-77, which correspond to clutches A through E. After a successful reset, all these values should now be 0.

Then it's time to perform an adaption drive, and certainly hold off the heavy throttle for a while as the box is still learning how to only allow the clutches to slip an acceptable amount.
SSP385 explains very well the actual adaption phases. Very clever and the box is actually adapting the unused clutches whilst in certain gears. You can actually feel the pulses whilst it's doing it.

    Hi N19,

That's a pity that quick fix didn't work, but as I suspected, there's something more serious going on. Either loss of pressure due to a bad pump, passing valve or seal/bush, Or some other failure. I'm certainly no expert on the internals of the 6HP19A. I can't be certain if your issue is mechatronic or clutch related. If you do want to have a go at stripping yourself, then firstly setup a nice big clean comfortable work environment, then watch all the 6HP19 video's on youtube. There are some good ones.
I would still recommend getting a specialist involved at this stage though, unless you can do without the car for some time. Perhaps even look for a second hand transmission of the same code. That may well be a better route to go.

    Hi Zit,

I thought the same as you the night it failed its lost the pressure going by the youtube vid id say its that comon failure E clutch is it you mentioned at the beginning even ZF pdf mentions comon fault due to a single seal or somthing like that, what does the seal look like and bush or an Oring

Can a diagnostics machine show any of the pressures etc in the gearbox , put a manual box in

As for the car sitting in the shed for a few months doesn't matter
