    Hi all,

Hoping for some advice from you knowledgeable gents about my June 16 Audi A6 C7.5 3.0 BiTDI (320) Avant.

The MIL light came on at the weekend & then I got a message on the dash yesterday saying “Adblue Fault - no start in 650 miles” (or similar) appeared. I added a full tank of adblue. MIL still on. The car is still running fine with no power loss, noises etc.

Took it to an Audi specialist this morning & there were 10 fault codes present. Pic attached if I can figure out how to add pictures lol.

apparently the underside of the car is covered in crystallised adblue, so the pipe is split & the tip of the injector is also damaged/split. Been told £1,100 to replace the pipe & injector to see if that fixes it, or around £2,000 to replace the whole adblue system.

Thats not the end of the issues though….

Another fault was identified as “p191a loss of crankshaft synchronisation”. Is this definitely going to be a £3K timing chain & tensioner replacement, or is it possibly going to be a sensor, battery fault or something else less expensive? Or could it even be a false fault code thrown up by the issues with the adblue system?

all advice welcomed from those gurus on the forum who know these issues. By the way since I bought the car in 2018, it’s been serviced regularly at Audi and I’ve changed the service intervals to 10K or annual, instead of the long life service intervals it was on at first.

The AdBlue system is rubbish, we have replaced lots right across the VAG range, especially Q7 V6 TDI. The sensors are working, they have spotted a timing error. £3k is very optimistic.

    Hi,
I would go for changing the AdBlue line as a split would defiantly bring in the low pressure fault.
I don't know about your model but some have the line in two sections and the join is where I'd check first.
Each section of heated line should be less that £200.
The injector often just gets clogged up with crystals and can sometimes be cleaned with warm water.
As for the other faults I'd get them cleared and see what returns before panicking.
    Good hunting.

Crasher is spot on the system is rubbish and I have the model he refers to !

Thanks guys. I’m kind of wondering if it’s worth changing parts of the adblue system that are known to have failed, or just replace the whole system. Shame to double up on labour if I do part of it & then the rest needs doing too. Not that I have so much money I can just change parts that don’t need changing.

Maybe Audi will contribute goodwill due to all the services & MOT’s being done there

Main dealers, all of them, are only interested in selling news cars and warranty work, everything else is a pain for them… and that goes for ALL makes.

You could try replacing the metering line 4G0 131 984 AE which is £169.80 but experience has shown me it will need the delivery unit and possibly ECU but there is a parts builtin on the ECU which I can’t see from home. It isn’t the usual case I see of tank, filler neck, delivery unit, ECU and software update.
