What battery should I get?

Hi All

Purchased couple of weeks a go a 2017 A6 2.0 Diesel Saloon TDI S Line Ultra. Seems like either my battery is on its way out or needs a long run to charge it.

Ran a voltmeter over it and it sits at 12.24v
With engine running it goes to 14.32v

Have a long run next weekend so will see what happens after that.

My question is......how do i know what battery is optimal? What battery would Audi recommend? If i got a new battery i want to get a good one. You can search on websites and they give you a full array of batteries.....but what do i need?

Current battery is a VARTA AGM 7P0 915 105 C (12v, 92ah, 520A DIN, 850ah EN/SAE/GS) I know what most of that means

I can't be 100% that this is the original battery.....what if it's a cheap one or not quite good enough for the car etc.

My Audi manual tells me nothing about what Audi think i should have. Anyone know what to go for?

Also....do i need to re-code when i install a new battery?

Look at the date stamp on the terminals, it will have week..... and year...... If they tally with rough build date then assume it's original

Yes that's the original battery, OE Varta are black and aftermarket grey. We will only fit Varta, the serial number will need changing but the rest of the coding should stay the same, so VAO 092 XXXXXXXX

Thanks. The garage where i bought it are gonna check it out on Thursday.

The issues i have had are:

- MMI saying 'Battery Weak' when ignition on but not engine....after about a minute
- Slow turning over when starting sometimes
- Stop/Start not working (once in 2 weeks it has worked)
- Alarm went off the other night....as far as i could tell, for no reason

You have to update the management system of a new battery so am thinking of purchasing one of these rather than pay a garage:

Okay, so seems the battery output is fine and is being charged correctly......but doing a load test on it shows the battery only has 45%.

Does this mean i need to get a new battery or will this be okay? At least until next winter

Hi there, If you don't mind me asking, which battery did you end up replacing your old battery with as I have the identical battery as your old one and I'm looking to replace it.
Did you buy the Ancel VD700? If so did it work for the battery coding?
