I got hit from behind (rear driver's side quarter panel) a few weeks ago and since then the electrics in my driver's door have stopped working altogether. I can't use my electric windows, adjust my mirrors and I also can't now unlock/open the driver's door - I have to climb across through the passenger side to get in and out. Could these two events be linked at all? I know it's unlikely.

My Avant is a B5, but the controller (comfort control unit) for the doors, windows, interior lights, etc. is inside the R rear, accessed through a hatch.

If the whole door is dead you should try to get the door card off and check the connections and loom, it sounds like the dead locks are activated in the drivers door so could just been its not getting power. You should be able to open and close the door with the key still.
