Ami issue please help

Hi I hope someone can help me. I’ve got an ami system with a 30 pin iPod connection in the glove box but every time I plug my iPhone into it is just says that the device doesn’t seem to be connected properly so I replaced the cable with a lightning cable but still same issue. Does anyone have any tips on where to troubleshoot next? Ps I do also have a 30 pin connection in the centre console for old school style car phone mould could this be the trouble or should it not affect things?

Hi,

There are two different AMI systems - one for MMI 2G and one for MMI 3G, so it's important to figure out which one you have. Although the cables for each system look the same, they are actually different and not interchangeable - an AMI 3G cable won't work with AMI 2G and vice versa.

Sorry but I have no idea what the difference between them are. Is there a quick way to tel the difference or is there I a link so I can read up on the differences?

It does help everyone if you post up the manufactor year/ Registration year of your car.

Is the AMI a unit next to the CD changer or is it a small plug in the top of the glovebox?

What year is your car - and what software version do you see when you choose the option in the MMI?

Hi sorry it took me so long to reply to this post after you guys have been trying to help me but I’ve been working away from home and my car for a while now. But anyway my car is a 08 plate Le Mans edition and I’ve currently got version c6-hu51.4.0 0731

I believe this is the latest software version for this model of MMI system
