    Hi all,

I'm having a tough time finding PAS pipes for my Polo. I've been on Club Polo as I thought that'd be the best place to find them, but no-one seems to have any. I've tried eBay and no-one has them there either! I'm really struggling now so hoped someone here might be able to suggest a supplier? Or if you know that, say, a Seat of the same age uses the same pipes if you could let me know part numbers I could look up?

The garage said I need both pipes and a helpful chap on CP said I need #7 and #9A from this diagram: https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/p.../4/422-422050/ I've tried searching by part number but I have to admit I'm finding it all very confusing as the numbers suggested in that diagram don't seem to match listings on eBay or what I've found via Google.

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. I really don't want to give up my otherwise perfectly running car for the sake two pipes!

    Thanks,
    Ex.

I suggest you get them made up (copied from the originals) by a company specialising in hydraulic hose supplies. Here is one I found at random by googling "air and hydraulic uk"

    Hi,

Yeah, that was suggested, but with the caveat that they needed to be cleanly removed and that's almost impossible without dropping the engine. Also, there simply isn't anyone near me who could do it anyway, so even if I could get them off I've nowhere to get new ones made up. But I appreciate the suggestion, thanks.

    Hi all,

I need some more advice, if possible? I managed to get new pipes made up and my garage fitted them last week. They also fitted the new pump I bought, but when I went to pick the car up they told me that the pump wasn't working correctly. It only kicks in once the revs are quite high. They said it might be a temporary problem and we both agreed I'd take the car and see if the pump bedded in. Went round to Aldi and it seemed OK, except for parking, but it wasn't as bad I thought. Didn't drive it again until Wednesday gone when I took a trip to Newark, and again I thought it was OK. Until I got to the retail park there and it was like parking a tank! So I need to go back to the garage and get it sorted, but not sure what to do. The options are:

    1) Take the new pump off and put the old one back on to see if that makes a difference. Trouble with that is that the old pump had run dry. Garage said it will be OK but I'm still a little nervous about this option.
    2) Buy another new pump and try that, but that'll be expensive.

The garage told me that if it's not a problem with the pump then it's the steering rack and it'll cost me £400 to replace!

I really don't know the best course of action with this, so if anyone has any ideas or options I've not covered I'd really appreciate the help!

    Cheers!
