    Hi all

My A6 is currently having it's 3 year service carried out, plus brake fluid change. The dealership recommended an air con service at £149 as this should be done every 2 years - what is the consensus on this advice and is £149 a fair price? Seems a lot even for Audi.

They come to you and £70.00 was the last charge I paid, if John doesn't cover your area he'll possibly recommended someone, lots of useful information on the website as well.

Thanks for the information Bill. So Audi aren't doing anything Audi-specific than an independent couldn't do?

They're not aircon specialists, but do not go somewhere they say they'll top it up, you need a specific amount of lube and coolant checked by downloading into a vacuum.

They are trying to up sell you. Its a ridiculous price for what is involved. Makes my blood boil how dealerships try to rip you off, and by inference think you are a mug. At most it is the air con filter, and they may test gas pressures etc, but should be ok after 3 years, and you only tend to do that when you feel the air con is not so cold as it once was.

Hi assuming it is over 3 years then Audi fixed price service is ( 2L and under )
interim service £170 Major £338 Air-con £90 Brake fluid £65 do not see why the air needs doing every 2 years, my 2003 TT has never had one done and works fine at 15 years old.
    Question there pricing, I would.

Mine is a 3.0L engine. Would they charge more for air-con work just because it's a larger engine?!?

Mate unless its not cold don't worry turn it on once a month it clears a misty screen lovely just run it to lube the system and seals and if it stops working contact a specialist.

Hmm, my car is at a Lookers dealership. Anyway, I'm leaving it for now and the rep rang me to discuss some other issues and didn't push the air-con service. Turns out those Bose speakers can't handle the volumes I put thru them, both fronts being replaced under warranty thankfully
