    Hi all,

I need to replace my MMI screen as it has the fairly common backlight failure. I have the 8T0919603A part number on it but I see there are also an E and G variant commonly available on eBay and for a lower price than the A. The connector appears to be the same as are the mountings but the back plate looks different.

Has anyone got experience on if they are backwards compatible so I could order an E variant?

    Thanks, Richard

Update: I am pleased to confirm the 8T0919603E variant replaced my 8T0919603A version perfectly. The E version has enhanced cooling fins to the rear but fits perfectly. I picked one up for £17.50 on eBay compared to ~£50 for the A version.

You are welcome, I hate when a forum thread goes unresolved!

It's actually a very easy swap. On the B8 the facia can be pulled off by hand. 4 torx screws removes the screen and then just unplug the connector. Could be done in 5 mins easily.

Sure, I recall how easy it was to remove the surround when removing the radio, but still hope not to experience this fault which is bound to be frustrating until a replacement screen is sourced.
