    Morning All
Yesterday while driving my A4 B6 Avant 1.9tdi Multitronic. Noticed a loss of drive.
Got car back home slowly. Gearbox now very noisy.
Jacked up front offside for a quick look.
Gearbox fluid every where. It appears to be coming from somewhere above the driveshaft.
Are there any pipes in this area that could be leaking? Or is the box a sealed Alf contained unit for all fluid?
I guess I’m looking at an expensive problem?
    Any pointers will be helpful
    Cheers

Could be the oil cooler has ruptured, mine did on my C7 Multitronic.
I'd try a gearbox service, replace what's split and see what its like after that. Unless you opt straight for a box refurb.

    Hi
I’m hoping it’s a pipe or something straightforward
It’s going on a ramp today at local workshop. If it’s a box required does anyone know the code ?
1.9tdi 130 Multitronic if it’s too expensive it will be broken for spares genuine 112k engine
    Cheers

My a4 B6 1.9 tdi auto saloon at 115,00 miles was doing the kangaroo leaps. Fault traced to gearbox. After new D.M.F. and completely re-furbished (rebuilt with all new parts clutches etc.) gearbox the car finally drives like new. I know it would have been cheaper to scrap but i now have a car that should last.
If I remember correctly the dmf was about £550, and the gearbox was about £2850.

Finally got car onto a garage ramp.

They found an oil seal had popped out from one of the cooler pipes.
new seal fiitted and box filled with new fluid.

Car will now drive and goes through the gears fairly well except it judders when pulling off from rest.

only seems to occur when gearbox oil is warm. its ok when oil is cold.

I'm guessing that gearbox is foxxed or words to that effect?

is this a serious gearbox swap issue?

I've been quoted £650 for a box from a breaker, so I suggest the fitting costs would take it to about £1000.
If that is the case I cant justify that spend on a car that is probably worth about £1200ish

Does anyone know of an economical gearbox for sale?

    cheers
