Hi guys I recently picked up a 2017 Q7 and have a question regarding the rear passenger ash tray. When I press it nothing happens it just stays where it is. Is this supposed to pop open or is just there for show? I've seen newer models with a twin power port for rear passengers. Help would be appreciated.

As far as I’m aware it should pop open exposing the twin 12v sockets.

Don’t recall it being part of any option but maybe mistaken?

    Thanks mate,

I have just looked in the owners manual and it does mention the sockets. Perhaps there is something begind jamming the mechanism from opening. If push I can hear a click but then it just goes back to the closed position and doesn't flip open. Any suggestions to fix would be welcome. Looks like the previous owner's rear passengers have just been kicking or jammed something in it.

Mine was actually kicked and broke off...but for some reason I could not reattach it - but dealership did it within seconds - guess it helps knowing how to do it.

Can only imagine either something underneath preventing it from opening?

Possibly I tried a thin alan key and tried pulling back gently but didn't work. I have the car booked in for something else (climate control digital display not showing a digit) so hopefully they will also just sort this under warranty.
