Might sound like a daft question but bear with me!

Looks like I might be keeping my 2003 A4 Avant TDI Quattro Sport a bit longer than planned, so I need to think ahead a little.

At the moment, I wouldn't fit a towbar to it because the car (totally stock) already sits so low on the back wheels. But next year I will really need the ability to tow a caravan and I'm not sure I can justify the outlay for a whole new car.

Looking at photos of other Quattro Sports online, it looks like a) this spec does sit lower than a normal A4, by design, but also b) it looks lower still because it's on bigger wheels (235/45/R17 tyres) which fill the arches more.

Basically what I want to know is, are there any really simple modifications I can make that would allow me to use the car for towing?
Is there anything relatively simple I can do with the suspension, and perhaps switch the wheels for the standard 16" ones, for example? I'm not bothered about the sports aspects of the spec; I bought this car becuase it was the best A4 available at the time.

    Any advice gratefully appreciated!

You can fit uprated springs specifically with towing in mind, obviously it will sit higher without the caravan on. There is a heavy duty spring made by Audi, stock suspension code is 1BA, sport suspension code is 1BE unfortunately I can't remember the heavy duty suspension code.

A quick search found the heavy duty suspension code as 1BB.
