When I looked this up before I discovered that ash particles are bigger than soot and also they cannot be burnt off and break down into smaller particles that will pass through the filter. I think that because of this the DPF removal and flush makes sense.

So an update... car went into limp mode again with coil flashing and engine light on. I am told now by the dealer that i purchased car from that it needs to go to Audi to have a software update as when the "specialist" replaced the EGR and cooler this software update was not applied.
Anyone heard anything about a software update needed when replacing an EGR vale and cooler?

There are updates for updates on certain models, it has to go on ODIS Software Version Management to see if anything is required. Be warned the if the DPF is blocked the Audi dealer will not entertain the idea of cleaning, only replacement with a genuine unit at £1200.

Been here a long time ago. DPF had to be replaced by Audi to fix. Alternative is to remove and do DPF delete.

If you are in the UK, then just be aware that if you go the DPF delete route it will be an instant MOT failure.

But won't it still be very easily identifiable as the MOT test compares the emissions vs the manufacturers VIN details. With no DPF you will be miles out surely?
