2012 Passat bluemotion tech low mpg

Hi everyone, quick question for any Passat owners, I recently bought a 2012 Passat 1.6 bluemotion tech for £6000 with 73,000 on the clock and I’ve been worried about the fuel consumption and I want to know if I’m being too paranoid. The highest average mpg its shown so far is 48.5 but has been 38 before, however, over 30 miles an 1/8th of a tank was used (around 2 gallons give or take I believe) but after filling the tank full, resetting the trip and driving 52 miles, 1/16th of the tank has gone. Is this normal? The tire pressure is okay and i took it for a service at VW (oil and filter change and diagnostic) who said they could not be an issue. Is this normal? If anyone else has one, what consumption have you been getting?? Any replies helpful as I’m worried I have bought a problem. Thank you!
