    Hi all,

First time poster. I have a feeling my EGR is completely coked up and needs cleaning and blanking. I’m struggling to find any info/pictures online but I’m looking at the pipes from under the car and uptowards the back of the block.

There are 2 pipes, which one is the one to block off with the plate?

    many thanks

First of all you can feel when bonnet shuts and you leave your fingers under it, but you can not feel anything with EGR !
If something have gone wrong with EGR and you posted in correct section and your car is A3 8V scan with VCDS and there will be code, but it already would warn you on instrument cluster.
Again if you posted in correct section NOTHING have to be blanked, but remaped.
    Its kinda illegal in UK.

I should have explained more thoroughly.. apologies

I had a remap done along with a DPF removal as the car was already in limp mode (pre map) from soot congestion.

The mapper also advised that he would "delete" the EGR from the ECU. The delete should be sufficient (no blank required) as the EGR was operational.

However, as the DPF was so blocked up I have been advised that the EGR/Inlet Manifold would need cleaning and the valve may be stuck open. In this situation it would be advisable to just block the EGR off.

As this is the 2.0 TDI 140 CR engine the EGR is on the back of the block as is a massive ballache to get to. So simply, which one of these pipes do I need to blank off?

The one that goes to inlet, for me it looks the one on left, that in lighter color.

So upon further inspection and thought, should i not be blocking the fumes from entering the EGR, not the pipe out the EGR to the inlet?

If its might be stuck open better block the pipe after it, but there is no difference as you just need to stop gasses getting back in engine.
