Would it be possible to delete EGR on this car? Someone mentioned that EGR is used in a process of DPF Regen, so on this engine, EGR shouldn't be deleted.
Is that true? Anyone done EGR Removal (and engine remap) on this car? Advice please!
    Thank you.

No its simply closed on DPF regens- that's what it will do all the time after reprogramming.
It will help DPF to live longer as EGR increases soot, but you will produce more NOx, which is not exactly healthy, but your choice.
There is no need to remove it, just remap.

    2013 Golf MK7 1.6 tdi 5 speed

    Thank you for your reply.
So remapping to close EGR all the time would be all right apart from producing more NOx?
Would it be still possible to pass the emission test on MOT, then?

All of what you suggest is illegal and an MOT failure plus the reason why diesel is being demonised, if you can’t maintain it as it was designed, buy a petrol model.

Bear in mind that it will affect your warranty if something happens and VW scan the car.

As it's still under warranty what are you worried about and why would you consider tinkering about with the EGR on a 1 year old car? Any remaps or mods would likely create gremlins, devalue the car, invalidate any warranty claim you or subsequent hapless owner might make in the next few years. If you're worried about DPF or EGR cooler failure or other eye watering CR diesel engine maintenance costs trade it in for a petrol.

Thank you for your reply. Just good to know it is still possible and won't damage the engine (right?).

I know you are absolutely right about MOT and it is illegal.
I wanted to buy 1.4 petrol version, but it was not available within my budget.

Also, I asked this simply because my old Audi A4 (B7) 2.0tdi was running smoother/better and much more economical with egr disabled.
The emission test on MOT showing as normal including NOx - I didn't understand much but MOT tester said so when I asked.
I was able to clean EGR on Audi A4 by myself, but it looks too difficult on this new Touran...

If it is illeagal, why can it still pass MOT then?
The VW warranty won't cover EGR/DPF as far as I checked with the dealer.
I was thinking of buying different warranty such as AutoGuard, but they won't cover these parts, either.

As long as EGR lasts 3-4 years at least with my driving style (3-5 miles in town for shopping/visiting friends a few times during weekday, and 40-60 miles motorway at 70-75 mph on weekends) before failing, I would be happy as it is.
But it looks like many people reported EGR on 1.6TDI bluemotion (Golf/Polo/Touran etc) didn't last that long even driving on Motorway everyday.
Also, my old Audi A4 2.0TDI EGR failed almost every 2-3 years (hence I learned how to clean/replaced it myself and disabled it eventually).
I used the car for 10 miles commuting everyday and 50-100 miles on Motorway at 70-80mph on weekends. Never had DPF problem, but EGR was more problematic for me.

Anyway, I will keep the car as it is for now (till VW warannty ends) as you guys suggested and will think again when EGR fails, hopfully in 2-3 years time.
