    Hi guys

Car was perfect before going for a water pump and timing belt change, however after long story but I will cut to the chase, after the cars fine when cold and hot but when lukewarm power is okay but if I stop at traffic lights or anywhere the rev's are bouncing and stuttering when I request power it's there alright.

    The car is 57 plate 170 BRD Q Audi a4 B7

Below is a readout of some blocks - from what I've read elsewhere the Injection start and Injection duration are out?? these should be around

    1) Engine speed
    Manual gearbox 860...940 rpm
    Automatic gearbox 790...870 rpm

    2) Specified commencement of injection
    -4 °CA(bef.TDC)...2.5 °CA(Aft.TDC) A OK

    3) Specified duration of injection
    5...7 °CA: OK

    4) Synchronisation angle

    -3...+3 °CA

Had an MOT a couple weeks ago and it was noted that some smoke was coming out of the exhaust on the advisory, I've not had this one before but could also be a factor.

Can someone assist with what could be going on here.

    Thanks

The cam timing isn’t brilliant but it should not cause that much trouble.

Hi Steve - hope your back is keeping good - hope the Mrs is well too.

So it that timing going to cause an issue or would you say it's a just don't worry about it or should I get it back into the garage who did the cambelt to get it right? is it that big a problem.

The other issue is quite strange really as the car has power, no error codes and drives well, sometimes I pull away and its a bit juddery but you floor it and then its fine again, but the most of the issue is related to when the car has just moved off 70 degrees in temp, you sit still and you can feel the car shaking and the rev's bounce, if you stay still the car will continue until the temp warms up more however if you pull away the cars generally fine. Is this an issue around air intake to the manifold by way of gaskets? really strange still as the cars fine when requesting power. Is there anything else I should be checking on vagcom to isolate this issue?

I've checked injection timing and from memory it was .22 on all four or 22 whatever the measurement was but the values were all .22

Also had an MOT just after all the recent work around cambelt and pump that was replaced twice, in the MOT I got an advisory that I've not previously had and this was "Exhaust emit excessive smoke or vapour but not likely to obscure the vision of other road users

Sorry - is the timing being out a big issue, is this going to cause other further problems?

From what I've read it's not a DIY 'er job if you don't have the right tools, I had tools but no cam locking pins.

If it's a DIY are there any notes on this? from what I know it's bumper off and intercooler etc..? no problems with the bumper off.
