Which system is it, the Mk60 or Mk61? The Mk61 can be a total nightmare and VCDS can’t do it, VCP can SOMETIMES but often we have to use the dealer system ODIS. A year or so ago I had a 2009 A3 (same ABS pump) in with a faulty dash and my ODIS was not working so I was going to take it to a friends who’s system was working. I started it up to go there and the ABS light came on and I thought, “sod it, I will deal with that when I get back” and went off to fit and code the dash. When I got back, VCDS showed a blank coding value and would not let me recode, I did not have VCP then. I had a mobile coding specialist come out and he fought it for hours and in the end managed to get the coding value back in with help from Audi in Germany through contacts he had. As a side point, can you imagine trying to explain this to my customer, it came in with a dash fault and whilst I had it the car went faulty with an unrelated problem but you try explaining that!
