    Hello to all,

New member here and new found beetle lover.
so I’m about to buy my second beetle which is a 2006 petrol model with less than 60k on the clock but bless her she hasn’t been well looked after. Sagging roof lining and quite a bit of interior broken or worn but not to worried by that, although can’t figur what would have happened to make the roof lining sag everywhere? Hoping not water leak? (not a convertible model)

Anyway my main concerns are this lot.....

    16556/P0172 - System Too Rich, Bank 1
16825/P0441/001089 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow
16514/P0130/000304 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Malfunction in Circuit

So I guess my first question is have I bought a lemon and should run for the hills or are these things that I can fix relativey easily? Car is very cheap and roughly £800 below price of car if all up and working, I should say I don’t want to spend that much on it to get it there and plan on doing the work myself.
I have limited knowledge with mechanics but not complete plank however correct terminology is a week point so idiots guide please and only just got my first code reader and still learning that, also do have multi meter but again lost on how to find circuit faults.

so my second question would be are all or some of these codes possibley linked from one fault and so by fixing or replacing one part fix more?

And third quesrion would be any help and advice on these codes and what to look for would be greatly appreciated?

    Thanks
    NBG

I have never seen a New Beetle with a roof lining problem, in fact roof lining issues are very rare. Lambda sensor failure is common so fit a new Bosch unit and the EVAP canister valve can fail which can make it run rich if it sticks open as can the Lambda sensor failing. The power steering pressure switch failing is also common.

    Hi and thanks for reply.
I too was very surprised by the roof lining, I had a good look and saw nothing obvious to explain it yet ironically while looking for ways to fix it found a YouTube video actually on a beetle with same problem although slightly older model.

so I’m assuming by your reply that these things are not related but are all relatively easy to fix and not to expensive?

Also I have edited post as the power steering code was incorrect and in fact a code showing an airbag fault to do with front crash sensors, no evidence of actual crash so hoping wiring fault?
