    Hi,

I have a faulty fuel filler flap. Audi have confirmed the fault is with the actuator and won't repair it FOC as it is 6 months outside warranty and I refuse to pay Audi to repair this.

The parts for the repair come to £50.86 inc VAT (Insert - £19.99, Actuator - £26.05, Sticker - £4.82) so I'm attempting to do the repair myself. Before I do, has anybody fixed this themselves and able to offer any advice?

    Thanks in advance!

Will they not offer a contribution to the cost. It's a known issue, they did mine a few months ago, still under warranty just as it ends in 3 weeks time. I would ask for some good will as there is plenty of evidence it is a known issue.

Audi said they wouldn’t offer any goodwill contribution. Obviously they wouldn’t admit it is a known issue. Repair seems easy enough, I’m just after some advice and or tips before I do it.

It's a very well know problem, I had my done free under warranty. It may be worth a call to Audi Customer Services Dept.

It makes sense to keep a good relationship with your local Audi, my car was out of warranty by well over a year and they replaced it for £68 all in.

Why bother fixing it. I now dont have a lock sine the actuator failed. Do people still steal petrol/diesel.

Ok, to stop that happening, take a look at the actuator and you will see oval shape plunger which rotates as you push it. Look at the flap and you will see the recess that the oval shape locks into. Just round this shape with a file and it will no longer lock.

The actuator broke on my C5 A6, and my C7 scanned with VCDS as faulty when I bought it at 30K. The flap lock is a bit pointless, as the flap is dead easy to break off anyway.
Mine is staying faulty, if it can't lock, it can't get jammed!
