I have progressed a bit further now and have installed a Turbo gauge as my copy of VCDS is being transferred from one laptop to a newer one.
I now have the boost pressure under control and it is boosting at just over .5Bar but the sound of escaping high pressure air is very loud. I have removed all the turbo hoses and inspected them carefully but cant find any splits.
It sounds like the air is escaping right in front of the bulkhead. My next port of call is to remove the manifold and replace the gasket in case it is that leaking. Anyone ever heard of them leaking?

We use a pressure testing system but have you checked all the hoses and the intercooler?

I would say yes but obviously not properly. I know all the hoses are fine. I will pull the intercooler and test that. Only tool I have for pressure testing is a leaf blower which is a bit noisy!!

That looks interesting. I have a cylinder leakage tester that I can use with my compressor to rig something up like that. I will give that a go once ive tested the intercooler. Thanks for the picture, thats brilliant.

Thanks Crasher. That picture was brilliant. I made a bung which I fitted into the hose which attaches to the inlet manifold and another with a fitting in it, which I fitted into the pipe which attaches to the Air mass meter. I then attached my cylinder leakage tester into the fitting and applied about 10psi to the complete turbo induction system. Instantly a split opened up in the hose which goes from the intercooler to the inlet manifold. Replaced it with a used hose from a breaker and a Mass meter(which was faulty) and the car now pulls like a train and goes fantastic.
Just need to change one glow plug now and it will be spot on.
Thanks once again Crasher for the picture and your help.

That pressure tester has helped me find all sorts of odd leaks, I am glad I was of help.
