I have notice this feature of the hazard light illumination after locking the car and I was wondering why is happening that. I have notice as well that if you try to open trunk door, while is locked, it will illuminate again.

Check your battery manager module has the latest software. It’s different to the MMI. I’ve had battery drain for a year and have just had the software updated. Early days, but it seems to have cured my issue.

What specifically is the "battery manager module"?

    Thanks

It’s the box that is connected to the battery via a thick cable to the negative. It controls the shutdown of the electronics in the car. It should shut items down in stages to stop the battery draining.

    Thanks Prophet

How does one update this? I've bought the triple update DVD set from Audi, that I thought updated all of the systems, including the MMI, last year. Is the battery manager module updated in a different way?

That I can’t help you with. Some threads say only Audi can do it. I took my car to an independent VW/Audi guy. He had to pay a licence to Audi to do it, but the whole job was £60.

Ok - I can't see an indy specialist having anything more than the latest VCDS with which to communicate with the car... Would appreciate if anyone else could chime in with some info on how to update the battery control module?
