    Hi all.
My 2013 A6 C7 BiTDI has developed a weird noise coming from the steering column. The noise sounds electrical?
Steering works fine. The noise seems to happen during slow steering movement.

Having a good google i cant see solution to this problem. Vcds detects no errors as yet!
The noise is similar to this video on YouTube.

any advice could be much appreciated 😃

It might be the slip ring, but it sounded a little more squeaky when it happened in my old A6 C6 - more like this:

I haven't heard of this in a C7 before though...

    Hi,

ironically all the buttons on my steering wheel work. I will plug the car tonight to see if any new fault codes have appeared since i did a scan the other day. Hopefully a defective slipring will have a fault code

In my case there were no faults - it was just the slip ring that was noisy (but it was functioning perfectly). It got louder in hot weather, if memory serves.

    Cheers!

I had something similar in hot weather. Adjusted the steering to a lower position and the noise disappeared.

    Hi all.
The misses drove the car on Sunday. The steering column was adjusted. Annoying the issue has gone away (For now).

I imagine the assembly needs a bit of grease. Thanks for everyone’s comments.
