    Hi all,

Thanks for all the input on this thread, I thought I had updated you on the outcome. Well what a bleeding state that front wheel was in. When I got the car the CV boot was loose and CV joint failed (even though it came with a fresh MOT!). I replaced the CV joint myself with no issue.

On stripping down the wheel to replace this bearing it turned out the whole bearing assembly was ready to fall out!!! 2 bolts where totally missing, one was sheared and the last one wasn't tightened up. Shocking to think of what would have happened if I had been cruising along the motorway when the bearing falls out of the hub! Fitted the new bearing and all is running as it should.

I still had very bad vibration at 73-75mph, having had the front wheels balanced I thought it could only be the rears, I was hesitant to get them balanced as the vibration was so prominent through the steering wheel. Turns out the back wheels were way out of balance needing about 50g to balance and the front wheels were also badly balanced by the other garage I had first gone to. The car now runs much better at 75-80mph on the motorway but I can still feel a little something through the wheel. It is certainly much better.

Now I can start to enjoy driving the car...once I fix the MMI and activate my cruise control!
