This evening my front passenger window would not come back up.

    I have a 54 plate Touran 2.0TDi Sport

Managed to force the window up manually but need a new regulator (not sure if I need a motor aswell)

Firstly - how does the silver panel come off between the door card and window? I have removed all the bolts but its like something else is holding it in place?

Is this the best way to replace the regulator?

Can I use the motor I have despite the metal cable for the regulator no longer connected to it!

    Any other advice, most welcome!

From memory, once you've got the door card off you need to lower the window about half way and release it from the plastic clips holding it to the runners, then lift the glass up to the closed position and fix it there.
There is a repair kit available that consists of the cables gear box and new window clips. £30ish I think.

You'll probably find the inner skin is stuck on with the mastic type gasket that runs all the way round the out side edge. You'll find you tube vids for the regulator replacement, similar to MK5 golf, motor will probably be ok, usually just the cable and sliders knackered. I had to do our 54 plate touran a good few years ago and a couple of passats since then.
