I have had my 2002 2.5 TDI quattro for 12 months and took it for the MOT, found a few problems and am interested to know if people believe it is worth the time and money to fix it up.

After reading through many of the posts on this forum i believe i have a leaking bag however when i went to raise the suspension this morning it would not lift at all so maybe now the compressor needs to be repaired/replaced. I also need need a new offside rear inner brake pad and 2 headlamps.

I do love this car and would hate to see it go to the scrap man but with no mechanics experience and limited funds i am questioning if i should cut my losses now.

Headlights are going to cost £75-100 each pattern, easy enough to fit but have an awkward bolt that needs a long extension bar on each side.

Rear pads, £20-30 - easy enough to fit, hopefully the discs are okay!

Airbags £50 - 70 pattern depending on which type it is.

    Compressor - £???

With limited experience you could repair it quite easily if you read some tutorials and purchased some tools, it all depends on what your time is worth to you. My definition of easy comes from over 30 years of fixing cars, Audi's are lot easier than some other makes and models but they are generally quite expensive in comparison.

Thank you for your reply. Providing the compressor is an easy fix and i do mange to get most of the work done myself, with the prices you mention i believe it may be possible to save my baby. May have had a stroke of luck last night finding a donor vehicle too.

Look for bagpipingandy on the forum. He sells kits to repair the compressor and has some great guides on how to do it. Loads of threads about these issues too. Best of luck.
