    Hi all,

    Been a while,

    A quick question really....

I have searched the web and can't find anything relating to what the garage has just told me.

So, car went in for timing belt this morning. just had a call to say, "as we went to torque up the tensioner, the stud ripped the thread out" They are saying there is a repair kit..... (This is what I can't find)

They then went on to say that if they can't get a repair kit, they are going to have to drop the engine to be able to get enough space to drill out and helicoil for the new stud.

Does this seem right to any of yous.?

This was their second chance lol

have a read of this thread for useful info. it's a common failure, I think it can be repaired without dropping the engine. maybe a right angle drill head would allow access to drill out the old threads, although never had to do this personally.
