engine light keeps coming on after clearing the codes and its staying on (not blinking)

did you guys had this error before?
i read about it and it can be because of: old plugs, lambda sensor, bad fuel.....
in extreme cases can cause the CAT to catch fire

i need a bit of advice before getting a 200 pound sensor

easiest and cheapest thing to check first is all the engine air intake system, wiring to the sensor, breather hoses etc for splits and leaks, although unmetered air admitted by a leak usually is indicated by lean output, check EGR valve operation as well, depends what sort of diagnostic tool you have ( that looks like VCDS) but you can graph the O2 sensor output voltage and see how its responding to changes. If the sensor is lazy not reaching full lean or rich voltage or responds slowly then it is probably at fault, there is info out there telling you what to look for.

so can you bring up a VCDS scope and see how the O2 sensor voltage is reacting?
