Came back to the car laden with shopping and saw that the rear hatch was open!
Car locked, no alarm, very weird.
I do not have fob opening just unlocking, however on a couple of occasions when I have unlocked the car and hatch at the same time the hatch has automatically opened. Never been able to replicate it when trying but it has done so on more than one occasion.
Nothing nicked but a bit concerning!
Awaiting A6 Avant Quattro SE Executive 3.0 TDI 218ps.

Metallic Diamond beige, adaptive air suspension, Bose surround sound, LED matrix headlights, parking pack, technology pack, ambient lighting, heated folding mirrors, comfort seats, privacy glass and finally a swivelling ball!

All a6s should have remote opening and later Avants have motorised boot lid.
Also comes with advance key option as well.

JJust had a look at the specifications and yes it should open on the key fob, and I've been under the impression that it only unlocked it!
Surprising what you learn after 18 months of ownership
Need to get that sorted then.

You'll have pressed the boot unlock in your pocket for more than 3 seconds, opening the boot.
