Hi guys. I haven’t posted on here for ages but have still been reading through all the posts.

I’ve just had my two year service at 19000 miles. Quite an expensive week so far with the service, 4 new tyres, wheel alignment and camber fix. I’ve had an advisory regards the front brakes. Pads and discs both 75% worn. I would look at using an independent garage for the work based on my dealer’s quote.

Whilst I get it’s a big car and I understand that pads may have worn, I’ve never known a set of discs to wear at the same rate as a set of pads.

Am I unrealistic to think this? Have any of you guys that have got to 2 years or 20k had similar advisories or needed to change the discs?

The car is mostly driven by the missus (very slowly ......... ha ha) and we don’t have or use ACC.

Any views would be massively appreciated.

    Thanks.

Yes, front braken were replaced at 30k...then front and back again at 65k...they are basically worthless in my opinion.

I also saw Audi now offers ceramic brakes on the Q7 2019 model (at least in Germany)...makes sense when you see how quick the normal brakes need to be replaced.

    Thanks Sven.

I saw someone refer to the brakes being made of cheese on an earlier post. I think there could be a lot of truth in this...... ha ha.

Probably doesn't help.. But I'm guessing substandard materials couk now be in use as part of the the manufacturing line..

The list of tacky stuff on the new Q7 as apposed to older version is far greater on this one than the previous version Q7 IMO..

The brake pads are just way too tiny for such a heavy car. I guess it has to do with wanting weight reduction over the predecessor, and as such lowering the emissions...
