ZF (manufacturer of your gearbox) not clear on when to change fluid, but probably around 60 000 miles would be fine.
At least at that coasts wouldn't do it more often.
    40 000 miles is for S-tronics.
Multitronic is also filled for ''life'', but well - it usually dies before oil is bad anyways.
Filled for life, but most recommend a change at 80k.
Multi boxes are changed at 38k and the latest version is bombproof.

Multi Boxes are bomb proof but the oil cooler will kill it instead. That's my experience in my old C7, lovely to drive though

Really Audi says that ? Change multitronic fluid at 38 k ?
if its so good why it was dropped in 2014 ?

Because by that date it was at the limit of it's torque handling capability of 400 nm. Further development to overcome this was deemed unprofitable. I think there is only one reported (on this forum) case of failure and that was the oil cooler element. And yes, 38k is the limit as it is for the dual clutch doohicky.

Well, then it still could be fitted for most 2.0 tdi's without problem and further development till this day....
There is also very few problems on other A6 C7 gearboxes on this forum.

Except of course it's at the very top end limit of its torque limit and no sane engineer would suggest that that's a good long term idea!

That would of been mine that failed.
I think most modern gearboxes now require a regular oil change, I don't think its a bad thing especially when you consider most cars now easily reach 200k miles, 20 years ago a car was almost dead if it got near 100k.

And your far more likely to get some goodwill from Audi if it does go wrong. (Not that it will of course)

I had to have a new S Tronic box in my 2012 50k miles 3.0 tdi Quattro a few years back. Was making a noise, and they found metal in the oil. At 24k miles I did have issues with the oil cooler - fuse had blown, but wasn't diagnosed for probably 10k miles, but I never got a warning the gearbox was overheating. It only got fixed as I had VCDS and kept seeing the fault code despite Audi saying they had fixed it, by which they mean cleared the fault code, and hope it doesn't return!
