    Hi,

New to this ownership and also new to ownership of my VI Golf. Only had it a few months but something strange has happened today where around 10 exterior bulbs have all stopped working together at once along with the warning on the MFD system. Had a look at a few of the bulbs that are not working they all physically seem ok.
Honestly I haven't got a clue what's gone wrong. Could it be one blown bulb is causing the others to stop working? or is it some other underlying issue causing this problem.

    Thanks

Update. Just went outside and the lights were still not working so I turned the car off, and pushed all fuses in that are located in the fuse box in the engine bay then I restarted the car and the MFD isn't showing any errors and all the lights are working again. Still doesn't explain what the initial problem was so the car is booked in at a auto electrician.

I've had a quick look at the bulbs fitted and they are H7 100W could this be where the problem lies maybe the bulbs are confusing the BCM and its cutting power.

He isn't a good name for a thread title you should show the problem.

This isn't easy tp diagnose on the web as we don't know what's been fitted or done. Have you fitted LED bulbs they normally need a resistor in the circuit so the MFD doesn't show a bulb out warning.?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

I did get to the bottom of the problem and I might aswell post what was wrong, in case anyone else experiences similar.

A fuse had melted in the fuse box that is located in the engine bay. As a result I had to replace the whole box. Apparently it's a well known problem over in the States.

You can add pictures as an attachment providing they aren't to big. There are plenty of free picture upload sites you can Google. I use http://tinypic.com/ since Photobucket started charging for posting on 3rd party sites.
