    Hi,
looking to get some steel wheels and winter tyres for my A6 Allroad 3 litre diesel. Can anyone advise on exact wheel size?

I used Tyre shop online » FREE DELIVERY » Oponeo.co.uk and they came from EU with VW/ Audi stamped on them. I was impressed with them.

I use Asdatyres or Halfords or Blackcircles for the tyres. I think, but I cannot remember if it was cheaper getting the wheels from Openeo and then tyres separate

Check your manual but it looks like Steel Wheels Rims » Free Delivery » Oponeo.co.uk 7,50 J x 16

They might cut a deal and fit the tyres to your wheels ?

I don't think you'll find 18"steel wheels and 17" won't fit over the calipers. I use 8x18"aftermarket wheels with ET45 offset. Originals are ET43 offset on my19" wheels. Have a search as there was a long thread on this. The official winter wheels are narrower than the standard wheels to allow for snowchains. 235 section width tyres will be better in snow but you don't get snow every day. I believe this winter is likely to be as bad or worse then last winter for snow though.

Just check with your insurance company first.
Mine said no problem with winter tyres and other wheels as long as the wheels were like for like, steel for steel,or alloy for alloy.
Just put mine on today as last chance for me to do so before mid December.
A cautionary word if moving your wheels around for even wear, check tyre rotation then you won't have to do the job twice like numpty me

As far as wheel size I bought 17x8.0 5x112 for Goodyear Ugrip 225/55R17 55R17 101V XL. Also supplied was a spigot ring 79.5mm x 66.6mm.
Awaiting A6 Avant Quattro SE Executive 3.0 TDI 218ps.

Metallic Diamond beige, adaptive air suspension, Bose surround sound, LED matrix headlights, parking pack, technology pack, ambient lighting, heated folding mirrors, comfort seats, privacy glass and finally a swivelling ball!

Or go to ebay.de using Chrome (it will translate the pages for you if you let it) and buy genuine used allroad winter wheels with winter tyres - they usually have a variety of offering with different amounts of wear - so "new", 7mm 6mm etc. Search for "allroad c7 winterrader"

I got mine 5 years ago they look just like the standard 5 spoke 18" allroad wheels but are half an inch narrower (apparently to allow for chains to be fitted... run the same size rubber just narrower rim).
Think I paid 1100 Euros or so for a set shipped with Dunlop winter 3D rubber with 7mm on them. Wheels were perfect - no dings - and arrived in 3 or 4 days. The good thing about this approach is that you do not need to consult insurance company because it's an OEM fitting.

There should be loads on eBay Germany because winter tyres are required in Germany so winter wheels are a check-box item when a car is ordered new... but often the wheels are sold separately when the car is moved on (company cars, rentals etc) so there are a few sellers that specialise in them.

    Here is an example ..Original Audi A6 4G C7 4G9 Allroad 4G9601025C Winterräder 235/55 R18 100H 8,5mm | eBay
Look pretty decent for 800 Euros plus 150 shipping.
A6 allroad BiTdi (MY14, July 2013 - DAB & power tailgate). Glacier white, tech pack (HDD Nav, colour DIS, Parking Plus), sports seats, 4 zone climate, heated seats front and rear, ambient lighting, 75L fuel tank, adaptive Bi Xenon headlights

They look good. Just look out for tyres that aren't too old as they harden over time giving them less advantage in colder conditions. Check the DOT codes (YY WkNo.) They will still perform better than summer tyres but there's the inevitable price/performance trade-off which sellers may factor into their valuations.
