    Hello all

I'm Chris, new to the forums

I own a 2000 AGR Golf Mk4 TDI and have had battery drain problems for some time.

I've done quite a bit of reading, and fiddling, to fix it but no luck so far, so looking for advice on next steps.

At first I thought, faulty door locks, and have replaced the two that were obviously problematic (intermittently not locking, or didnt trigger the interior lights when doors opened). These I've replaced and the associated problems are gone, but the battery drain continues.

I've inspected the wires around the boot opening and these seem fine.

The drain looks to be coming from fuse 14. Should I replace the other door locks in the hope that this will solve it? Does the CCM need replacing? There's nothing else obviously wrong with the car that suggests these things are faulty.

    Thanks in advance!

I saw your posts on several other threads crasher and have followed your advice there too. One post suggested removing the plug to the CCM which I’ve done this evening. I won’t know what difference it makes until tomorrow though as the car battery is currently on charge. Car has been stood for a few weeks but I need to start using it again this coming week, so trying to get this all sorted.

In that thread you were going to look and see what disconnecting the CCM might impact - did you ever find this out?

Yes. I have done this at terminal and at fuse 14 and believe that is the source. From memory it was 0.5a drain from this fuse. I will repeat the test tonight and check.

If it is, what do you advise next?

    And if not?

    Thank you...

    Chris

So this evening I ended up pulling every fuse out and checking the drain as I did so. Started at 0.36a with everything in place and gradually dropped to 0.29 with all the fuses out.

Interestingly with all the fuses out, if I close and lock the driver door it drops the drain to 0.23a. That’s the lowest I can get it.

From the battery top fuse box the drain is going through S176 from the linked image which says “relay panel”. Is this the fuse box?

    Help appreciated!
