How good ? A6 C6 Allroad

Hi All

i currently own a C5 Allroad 2.5 diesel with 167 k

I had it for 7 years and it’s been a great car . I’ve got used to doing jobs on it , air bags etc .

I’m considering changing for a 2008 C6 Allroad it’s a 3.0diesel with similar miles.

Are they as good as the predecessor?
Anything obvious to look out for ?

Any comments much appreciated

The air suspension would be the first worry so unless you absolutely need this feature I'd opt for the non-allroad version at that age and with that many miles.

im ok with the suspension on the C5 I’ve replaced sensors and airbags and compressor with a lot of help from guys on the forum. I do need the height for ground clearance in snow so I’d rather keep my C5 Allroad than buy a C6 Avant.

Is the suspension set up on the C6 much different than the C5 ? I know it doesn’t lift as high for some reason .

The air suspension in the C6 is fairly different from the C5. It's certainly more reliable, but does still develop leaks in the bellows. If you're happy with what you've dealt with in your C5, then there's no reason for the air suspension on the C6 to worry you.

I don't know the TDi engine, but I'm very happy with my C6 allroad. As mentioned the air suspension can have issues but it sounds like you're well up to speed on that from your C5 experience. I changed the rear airbags and compressor piston ring on mine, and I don't think it's any harder than the C5 except for the air compressor being in a silly place.
