    Hello All,

I've recently been experiencing a problem with my MK4 Golf that I'm struggling to get to the bottom of and am hoping for some advice.

The issue started with the amber engine light coming on and 'hunting' when idling. First fix was an adaption of the throttle body which briefly resolved the issue. I then had the TB replace and it is still intermittently 'hunting' when idling. If I leave it to its own devices for a few minutes it revs normally and is fine for a few days.

From reading previous posts I understand if the TB is replaced the it is necessary to reset the CPU by disconnecting the battery for 24 hours, I don't think my mechanic did this. Would doing this retrospectively and following the procedure of letting the car idle for ten minutes then taking it for an aggressive drive be a sensible approach to resolving the problem or does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi,

The mechanic has been doing all the work so I only have one code from the breakdown rescue guy 'P0130: O2 Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1'.

It's a 2003, as far as I know it's 2LT, that's what's stamped on the engine. I think the engine may have been replaced before I owned it as it is registered as a 1.8. I'm not at all knowledgeable about any of these things though so I could be wrong.
