The CAYC engines have three water pumps, an electronically controlled engine driven pump and two electric pumps, one for the intercooler and another one hanging down the back of the engine for the heater. The MQB heater matrix is useless and they block easily, we are starting to get a lot of MQB cars with no heat, last Friday we did an early 8V A3 and the matrix was blocked. When the cooling system is opened, say to replace the pump, it MUST be bled using a diagnostic system or it will cavitate.

Thanks crasher any idea on which is the most likely suspect the engine water pump seems to be the only one the main dealer showed for the vehicle...

Dont want to chuck a new engine coolant pump at it if its something else.
As far as im aware the cabin heater was working without issue...
Car has done just about 38k so id hope its not a blocked heater matrix or similar.
Im guessing the most likely is the cabin heater pump but not found a part number for it online as yet....

Its Service Diagnose Code (SDC) is V488 and that is used to identify the component inside VW, the electric pump for the intercooler is V188

I wish I had taken a picture of the one I did a few weeks ago.

I will try and look tomorrow.
