not sure if this has been asked to death but ive recently decided to think about having a towbar fitted to my above touran 1.6 tdi bluemotion. Should i be aware of any issues when it comes to the wiring side of things? ive heard of issues with damage being caused to the cars electrics due to LED lights etc can anyone shed any light on this for me. Ive got no issues with fitting the tow bar itself just no idea where to start with the wiring with respect to the above possible electrical gremlins. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated along with wiring diagrams

I fitted mine myself to my A6 Avant and then my Allroad. Both times I bought the dedicated wiring kits, they are a little expensive but generally plug and play once coded. I preferred that option than trying to scotchlock the relay into the lights and blowing something. For reference I used the Westfalia kit for towbar and wiring.

Yes it all depends on the kit used, for some odd reason VW have dropped their own kit for right hand drive.
